I’m Lucrecia.

I have always told stories. I just never stuck to one way of telling them.

I am a journalist, filmmaker, photographer and strategic communications professional from Caracas, Venezuela, now based in Brussels, Belgium.

I began writing online as a teenager, first on Blogspot and later on Twitter, long before content creation, personal branding or digital strategy were jobs anyone talked about. There was no strategy behind it. I just liked observing, writing, making sense of things and telling stories. Bit by bit, that instinct became a career.

Journalism taught me to investigate and question what I see. Photography taught me to pay attention. Film gave me time, movement and silence. Strategic communications taught me something different: how to take complex ideas and find the clearest way for them to reach people.

For a long time, I treated them as separate parts of my professional life. The deeper I went into one, the easier it was to feel I was leaving the others behind. They have become less separate than they once seemed. I move between words, images, video and digital formats depending on what the story needs — sometimes documenting what happened, sometimes trying to understand why, and sometimes helping an organisation explain why it matters.

Much of my work has been shaped by human rights and by my own experience of migration. I have reported on violence, displacement, gender, housing and systemic abuses across Latin America and Europe, and worked with international organisations to communicate issues that are rarely simple and should never be simplified at the expense of the people living through them.

What connects all of it is curiosity. I like looking closer. Asking another question.
Finding the detail that changes how we understand the whole story.

It took me a while — and several months fighting with Squarespace — to realise that these different parts of my work did not need to compete with each other.
They could simply live in the same place.

Apparently, that place is very orange.

I didn’t become a storyteller
because I worked in communications.

I ended up in communications because
I had always been a storyteller.

I make documentary and fiction films about memory, violence, relationships and the ways people live with what has happened to them.

Photographer

Photography was one of the first ways I learnt to pay attention.

My work moves between documentary photography, photojournalism and a more personal practice, always looking for the gestures, places and small details that say more than they seem to.

I’m a communications professional with 8+ years of experience in journalism, filmmaking, photography, and strategic communications, content creation, and impactful hope-based storytelling.

The format changes. The instinct doesn't.

I became a journalist because I wanted to understand what happens behind the things we see.

My reporting combines investigation, testimony, data and verification to tell stories about violence, migration, gender, housing and human rights — without losing sight of the people living through them.

strategic communications & Design

Complex issues do not have to sound complicated. I turn research, advocacy and human rights expertise into communications that people can understand and engage with — from digital campaigns and publications to video, web content and visual storytelling.

My work spans strategy and production, so I am as comfortable thinking about the story and the audience as I am making the thing.
