World Organisation Against Torture

Between February 2025 and June 2026, at the World Organisation Against Torture (OMCT), I worked across digital strategy, content creation, multimedia production and graphic design to translate complex human rights issues into accessible content for international audiences.

During this period, OMCT published more than 2,300 posts across its social media channels and gained more than 10,800 new followers. Across its established platforms, average engagement increased from 2.84% to 6.20% (+118%), while average monthly reach and visibility increased by 11%.

The strongest growth was recorded on Instagram and LinkedIn. On Instagram, average monthly reach increased by 139%, from 3,911 to 9,345 accounts, while average engagement rose from 1.03% to 7.16%.
On LinkedIn, average monthly visibility increased by 186%, from 6,095 to 17,403, alongside a 49% increase in average engagement, from 5.80% to 8.66%.

These results reflect a broader shift towards more visual, platform-specific and data-informed communications, combining research-driven content with stronger storytelling, clearer formats and continuous performance analysis.

The examples below offer a snapshot of my work at OMCT across digital campaigns, audiovisual storytelling, event communications and multilingual publishing. Together, they show how I combine strategy, editorial judgement, visual production and performance analysis to translate complex human rights issues into clear, accessible and engaging content for different audiences and platforms.

Case study

Global Torture Index

First edition (2025) and second edition (2026)

The Global Torture Index is an evidence-based tool that brings together country-level research, quantitative indicators and civil society analysis to assess the risk of torture and ill-treatment around the world. Its first edition covered 27 countries, expanding to 39 countries in its second edition.

My role

I led digital communications for the 2025 launch and the 2026 edition, working across research, advocacy and communications teams to identify the strongest findings and translate them into clear, engaging digital content.

My work included editorial planning, visual storytelling, graphic design, video content, web publication, social media adaptation and performance analysis.

Selected outputs

Impact

The campaign produced 97 social media posts, 6 videos and 8 blogs, reaching more than 75,000 accounts and attracting 19,269 visitors to the microsite in its first six months.

Audiovisual storytelling

Inter-Mechanisms Meeting & UN Special Rapporteurs

High-level institutional meetings often produce valuable discussions that are difficult to translate into accessible public-facing content.

For OMCT’s Inter-Mechanisms Meeting in Brussels, I worked on audiovisual storytelling designed to bring those conversations beyond the meeting room.

Gina Romero,
UN Special Rapporteur on Freedom of Peaceful Assembly and Association

My role

For this interview, I handled the process from concept to dissemination, including:

  • Researched the topic and developed the editorial angle

  • Prepared the interview questions

  • Conducted the interview

  • Coordinated the filming

  • Developed the script and narrative structure

  • Coordinated the editing process

  • Prepared accompanying digital content and dissemination.

My role

For this interview, my role focused on editorial preparation and production coordination.

My role

  • Researched the interview angle

  • Developed the questions

  • Coordinated the filming team and production

Post-production scripting and editing were led by another colleague.

The aim was to turn a specialist institutional conversation into a short, accessible story while preserving its political and human rights context.

Mary Lawlor,
UN Special Rapporteur on the Situation of Human Rights Defenders

Lina,
Syrian filmmaker, journalist and
human rights defender

Although from another event, this interview was produced around the screening of Five Seasons of Revolution at the International Film Festival and Forum on Human Rights (FIFDH), Geneva, in an event co-hosted by OMCT. I produced this interview end-to-end, from editorial concept and filming to video editing, written content and digital dissemination. The accompanying article explores Lina’s filmmaking process, repeated arrests, the challenges of documenting conflict, and her hopes for Syria.

My role

  • Researched the interview angle and prepared the questions

  • Conducted the interview

  • Recorded the interview independently using my own equipment: phone, external microphone and tripod

  • Reviewed and selected the footage

  • Edited the video and shaped its narrative structure for digital publication

  • Edited and developed the accompanying written interview for the OMCT website

  • Prepared the content for dissemination across digital channels

Event communications

global week against torture

The Global Week Against Torture brought together civil society, experts and international stakeholders across multiple regions and languages.

My role

I led digital communications around the event, translating a complex programme into clear, consistent and accessible content across social media and digital channels.

My work included:

  • Session and speaker promotion

  • Visual assets and campaign materials

  • Social media content

  • Coordination across multiple sessions

  • Follow-up dissemination.

Scale

  • 31 sessions

  • 2,000+ participants

  • 138 speakers

  • 11 languages

The challenge was not only producing a high volume of content, but maintaining visual consistency, editorial clarity and accuracy across a multilingual international event.

Multilingual publications

OMCT annual report

Large institutional publications require more than editorial production. They involve coordinating content, languages, visuals, digital publication and dissemination across multiple teams.

For OMCT’s Annual Report, I coordinated key parts of the digital publication and dissemination workflow.

My role

  • Coordinated multilingual publication workflows

  • Managed translations and content adaptation

  • Selected and coordinated photography

  • Produced and published web content through the WCMS

  • Developed digital launch and dissemination materials

  • Adapted content across social media and other channels

This work required balancing editorial consistency, visual identity, multilingual accuracy and publication deadlines across a complex organisational process.

Across these projects, my approach combines editorial judgement, visual storytelling, hands-on production and data-informed decision-making — always with the aim of making complex issues clearer without losing their nuance.
